LOMAR

Sensitive realism, where light and texture become the protagonists of each composition

Lomar, the pseudonym of Manuel Lorente Martí, is a Spanish marine artist celebrated for his evocative seascapes. Born in Valencia in 1961, he trained at the Academia d’Art and the Academy of Applied Arts in Valencia, developing a foundation in traditional painting that informs his sensitive and luminous approach to marine landscapes.

Lomar’s work captures the essence of the Mediterranean through a realist style that balances faithful representation with personal interpretation. Using oil on canvas, palette knives, and layered brushwork, he creates textured surfaces where light and colour take centre stage. Reflections on
the water, dawn and sunset contrasts, and skies that envelop each scene in chromatic harmony are hallmarks of his practice.

Influenced by Ignacio Pinazo and Carmen Laffón, Lomar aims not merely to reproduce the landscape but to convey its atmosphere— the salty breeze, the quietude of the harbour, and the gentle rhythm of the sea.
