To mark the anniversary of J.M.W. Turner’s death, we’re celebrating the work of contemporary painter Simon Kenny — an artist who continues Turner’s unfinished legacy.

Turner didn’t paint landscapes.
He painted weather, speed, light, and risk.

Two centuries later, Simon Kenny picks up that unfinished conversation.

Like Turner, Kenny pushes landscape to its breaking point — where atmosphere overwhelms description, paint becomes energy, and nature feels volatile rather than scenic.

This is why Kenny is often called a “radical Turner.”
